The SEM1636 loop-powered trip amplifier monitors a 4-20mA process loop and provides two independent changeover relay contacts that can be set to trip at any point within the 4-20mA range. Because it derives its power directly from the monitored current loop, the SEM1636 requires no separate power connection, simplifying installation wherever alarm relays need to be added to an existing 4-20mA circuit.
Each relay output is independently configured for action, set point, and dead band, with six selectable actions available — normal or inverted high, low, and deviation alarms. Additional math filtering and user linearisation functions let the device handle non-linear tank shapes or flow characteristics. Configuration is via a standard USB interface and free Status software, with the unit powered from the USB connection during setup so it does not need to be wired into the loop to be configured.
