Denso ColourTape is a primer-integrated petrolatum tape used in the Steelcoat 300 system for corrosion prevention on above-ground wet or dry pipes, flanges, valves and similar surfaces.
The manufacturer describes ColourTape as a primer-integrated system, so a separate primer is not normally required for that system. The published application instructions and specified surface preparation must still be followed.
Petrolatum tapes are conformable and are commonly used around fittings, valves and flanges. Correct overlap, moulding material, outer protection and detailing depend on the geometry and service environment.
Selection depends on whether the asset is buried, exposed, submerged or in a splash zone, as well as surface condition, operating temperature, mechanical exposure and the required outerwrap or coating system.
