ATEX industrial floodlights are fixed lighting fittings designed and assessed for use in specified potentially explosive atmospheres. They are commonly considered where a project needs wide-area illumination for an outdoor or large industrial space, but the correct fitting cannot be selected from wattage or appearance alone.
Before selecting a floodlight, confirm the hazardous-area classification, gas or dust group, temperature class, equipment protection level, permitted ambient range, ingress protection, electrical details and conditions of use. A product suitable for one classified area is not automatically suitable for another.

The lighting layout, mounting height, target illuminance, beam distribution and maintenance access should be reviewed together with the hazardous-area requirements.
Use the approved hazardous-area drawing or project specification. Confirm whether the location is classified for gas, vapour, mist or combustible dust and whether the requirement is Zone 0, Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 20, Zone 21 or Zone 22.
Review the equipment group, category, gas or dust group, protection concept, temperature class, equipment protection level and any special conditions of use. “Explosion proof” is a commercial description; the complete marking and certificate determine the permitted application.
Check the permitted ambient temperature and maximum surface temperature. Include outdoor exposure, salt air, washdown, dust, chemicals, vibration, corrosion risk, direct solar exposure, ingress protection and cable-entry requirements. IP rating is important, but it is only one part of environmental suitability.
Provide the mounting height, target illuminance, area dimensions, beam preference, bracket or pole arrangement and maintenance constraints. A floodlight that looks suitable on a product page may not deliver the required coverage or mounting flexibility for the actual site.
Provide voltage, frequency, AC/DC requirement, control method, cable-entry details, emergency requirements and any existing fitting information. These inputs help reduce unsuitable quotations and late changes.
