Process Signal Conditioner SEM1600VI

The SEM1600VI process input signal conditioner is a powered isolator that accepts any voltage signal between -50V and +50V DC, or any current signal between -50mA and +50mA, and converts it into a voltage, bipolar voltage, or current re-transmission output. In current mode it can accept both active and passive mA signals on input and output, meaning it can either power a loop-powered transducer directly or accept a signal from an already-powered external loop.

A built-in user linearisation feature lets the output follow a non-linear input relationship — for example, linearising a pressure signal from an irregularly shaped tank to give a true level reading. Output signals can be scaled over any part of the input range, and an output alignment feature allows the actual input signal to be matched precisely to a user-set output value, giving process engineers fine control over calibration.

  • Wide Bipolar Input Range — Accepts any voltage between -50V and +50V DC or current between -50mA and +50mA.
  • Flexible Output Types — Selectable voltage, bipolar voltage, or active/passive current re-transmission output.
  • Active or Passive mA Modes — Can power a loop-powered transducer or accept an existing powered loop.
  • User Linearisation — Programs the output to follow non-linear input relationships, e.g. tank shape correction.
  • Output Alignment — Aligns the actual input signal precisely to a user-set output value.
  • Fully Scalable Output — Output can be scaled over any part of the input signal range.

What input signals does the SEM1600VI accept?

It accepts any voltage signal between -50V and +50V DC, or any current signal between -50mA and +50mA.

Can the SEM1600VI power a loop-powered transducer?

Yes, in mA mode it can accept active or passive signals on input and output, meaning it can power a connected loop-powered transducer.

What is the linearisation feature used for?

It allows the output to follow a non-linear relationship to the input, for example linearising a level reading from an irregularly shaped tank.

What output types are available?

Voltage, bipolar voltage, or active/passive current re-transmission, scalable over any part of the input range.
