ATEX Certification
What Is ATEX Certification?
ATEX is the European Union directive (2014/34/EU) governing equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. It sets the essential health and safety requirements that hazardous-area electrical and mechanical equipment must meet before it can be marketed and used in classified Zone 0, 1 and 2 (gas) and Zone 20, 21 and 22 (dust) environments.
ATEX at Daly Middle East
Daly Middle East supplies ATEX-certified lighting, portable equipment and instrumentation from our manufacturer partners, for use across oil & gas, petrochemical, marine and industrial sites throughout the UAE and wider GCC. Every ATEX-rated product we distribute is supported by full documentation – certificates of conformity, declarations of conformity and technical datasheets – to support engineering submittals, vendor registration and HSE approval processes.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. ATEX is a mandatory EU directive for equipment sold within the EU/EEA, while IECEx is a voluntary international certification system built on the same underlying IEC 60079 standards. Many manufacturers we distribute hold both.
GCC operators typically specify IECEx as the primary certification, though ATEX is often additionally requested by European-based operators and EPC contractors. Daly Middle East can advise which certification your project specification requires.
